About

The Labor Law Clinic deals with real cases related to the issues covering the Labor Law such as Labor Standards Act, Act On The Guarantee Of Employees’ Retirement Benefits, Minimum Sage Act, Trade Union And Labor Relations Adjustment Act, Act On The Protection Of Fixed-term And Part-time Employees, Act On The Protection Of Temporary Agency Workers, Act On Prohibition Of Age Discrimination In Employment And Elderly Employment Promotion etc. The clinic primarily aims to provide free legal aids to the vulnerable and public-interest groups by taking their cases or take part in defending cases with social impacts.

Academic Advisor

Prof. Jeongeun Choi
Professor Choi specializes in the field of labor, while working as a judge, lawyer and judicial researcher. She worked as a member of the labor team of a law firm for 9 years, performing litigation and consulting in labor cases. She has been in charge of reviewing and reporting labor cases (civil, criminal, administrative) in the appeals trial as a judicial researcher for the Supreme Court(labor department) for 4 years from 2018. She has been teaching clinical law at Seoul National University Law School since March 2022.

– Formerly a Judicial Researcher at Supreme Court of Korea(labor department) for 4 years(2018-2022), a lawyer at Yoon & Yang LLC. in the field of labor dispute for 9 years(2009-2018), a Judge at Daegu District Court(2006-2009)
– Member of the Seoul bar(Korea), the New York bar(U.S.)
– Specialized in labor dispute resolution

  • Understand how labor disputes are developed and resolved in the workplace and in courts, based on the nature of labor disputes. 

  • Observe lawyers’ litigation strategies and logical development methods in the course of actual cases.

  • Learn practical knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with the parties(clients) and conduct litigation.

  • Understand the court’s case handling procedures and participate in the process of finding facts and forming legal principles.

  • Recognize the social and historical context of labor disputes, and contribute to the realization of justice and public interest.
